Our Story

How mitsahax Advocates came to be

mitsahax Advocates was established in Bangkok's Phaya Thai district by a team of family law practitioners who had spent years watching families arrive at formal proceedings that, in many cases, could have been avoided. Court processes have their place, but they are rarely suited to conversations about care, inheritance, or the distribution of household responsibilities within a family that intends to remain a family afterwards.

The practice was built around a different idea: that a quiet, structured conversation — prepared in writing before it begins and documented carefully when it closes — can produce agreements that last because the people involved had genuine ownership of the process.

Since opening its doors, mitsahax Advocates has worked with families across Bangkok and the wider region, including families with members living abroad. The practice operates in English and Thai, and is familiar with the particular considerations that arise when family members hold different nationalities or have assets in more than one jurisdiction.

Our Mission

What we are here to do

Our work is to give families a place where difficult conversations can happen with some structure and without the pressure of a formal legal setting. We prepare clear written documents at every step so that no one leaves a session relying on memory alone.

We do not advise families on what to decide. Decisions about substance — who contributes what, who takes which responsibility, how property is treated — remain firmly with the family. Our role is to support a process that is fair to everyone sitting at the table.

The People

Who you will work with

Our team is small by design. Each matter is handled by the same practitioner throughout, so there is no need to repeat background information as the process moves forward.

How We Work

Professional standards

Thai Bar registration

All advocate members of mitsahax hold current registration with the Lawyers Council of Thailand and maintain their continuing professional development requirements each year.

Written-first protocol

Every session begins with a written agenda shared with all participants in advance. Outcomes are recorded in a written note within two working days of the session closing.

Confidentiality as standard

Mediation proceedings at mitsahax are conducted on a without-prejudice basis. Disclosures made during sessions are not shared with any third party unless all participants consent.

Data protection

Client information is stored securely and handled in accordance with Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). We do not pass client information to third parties without explicit consent.

Impartiality

Our mediators do not represent any individual family member. If a conflict of interest is identified before a session begins, we will say so clearly and, where appropriate, suggest alternative practitioners.

Revisable agreements

Documents produced through our services are written to be revisited over time. Where a family's circumstances change, we can facilitate a further session to update the written record accordingly.

Our Approach

Family mediation in Bangkok — how we see the work

Family law in Thailand encompasses a broad range of personal matters — inheritance arrangements, parental responsibilities, the distribution of jointly held property, and the coordination of care for older relatives. These are matters that families must ultimately resolve among themselves, but the presence of a calm, structured process often makes the difference between a conversation that produces a lasting written outcome and one that adds to existing tensions.

mitsahax Advocates has worked with Bangkok families from a wide range of backgrounds, including families with members resident in Thailand and abroad, families navigating matters that cross two or more generations, and siblings working out shared caregiver responsibilities for the first time. What those families have in common is a preference for a thoughtful, private process over formal proceedings — and a need for written clarity at the end of it.

Our chambers in Samsen Nai, Phaya Thai, are designed to feel more like a meeting room than a law office. This is deliberate. The physical setting of a difficult conversation matters, and we have taken care to create a space where each participant can sit comfortably, hear one another clearly, and focus on the matter at hand rather than on the formality of the setting.

Families who come to us are not required to have reached any preliminary agreement before arriving. It is entirely normal to begin a session with quite different views of a situation. The mediator's role is not to push toward a predetermined outcome but to ensure that each participant has the opportunity to speak, to listen, and to consider the matter from more than one position.
